The World Health Organization says Nigeria is among 29 countries and territories where over 10,400 attacks on healthcare have been recorded since 2018, causing about 5,700 deaths and more than 8,000 injuries globally.
WHO says over 900 attacks were recorded between January and August 2026, disrupting treatment and emergency services. It warned that terrorism and insurgency continue to affect healthcare delivery in Nigeria’s conflict-affected communities.
