The Federal Government has approved a comprehensive reform of the National Youth Service Corps to reposition it as a youth empowerment and productivity-driven institution. The changes, approved by the Federal Executive Council, represent the first major review of the scheme in its 53-year history.
The reforms introduce technology-driven mobilization, security-sensitive deployment, digital skills training and leadership development. The government will also amend the NYSC Act to give legal backing to the new structure and operational changes.
