Players of Berekum Chelsea were attacked by armed robbers on a highway in the Ahafo Region. The incident happened on April 12, 2026, along the Goaso–Bibiani road. The team was returning from a league match against FC Samartex 1996. They had just won 1–0 at Dun’s Park in Samreboi.
Armed men reportedly blocked the road and opened fire on the team bus. Players and officials fled into nearby bushes to escape the gunshots. Forward Dominic Frimpong was hit and later died at Bibiani Government Hospital.
