President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Identity Management Commission Act 2026 into law. The legislation strengthens Nigeria’s digital identity framework and enhances national security and cyber protection.
Government officials say the new law will improve identity management, database harmonization and digital authentication. It is also expected to support national planning and infrastructure development.
