Gov’t Settles $709m Eurobond Early

The Government of Ghana has made an early payment of a US$709 million Eurobond, completing the transaction on December 30, 2025, ahead of its scheduled due date. The Ministry of Finance said the move reflects improved fiscal discipline and supports the country’s ongoing economic recovery efforts.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson described the payment as a major milestone in Ghana’s debt management strategy. The settlement brings total Eurobond payments made in 2025 to about US$1.4 billion, following two earlier payments of US$349.52 million each under the debt restructuring programme. Dr. Forson noted that consistent and transparent debt servicing is key to restoring investor confidence, strengthening fiscal buffers, and ensuring future obligations are met without undermining national development priorities.
