Togo has approved a simplified guide to export procedures for agricultural products to WAEMU and ECOWAS markets. The document is designed to help traders better understand rules and formalities for cross-border agricultural trade.
It was developed with support from the Regional Agricultural Market Integration Program (PRIMA). The guide targets producers, exporters, public institutions, and private operators in agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fisheries. It explains export steps, required documents, applicable standards, and regional free-movement trade rules. The aim is to reduce costs, delays, errors, and post-harvest losses while improving trade efficiency.
Authorities expect the guide to help Togolese products access a regional market of over 400 million consumers. The initiative supports Togo’s strategy to boost agricultural exports in a sector that employs about 65% of the workforce.
